Custom Fountain
This fountain was conceived from a lion country-underwater idea and developed into a plan view mural and murals for the interior and exterior walls of the fountain. The mural was developed into fully sized drawings from which individually colored, custom fired ceramic tiles were made depicting each the mural's more then one thousand segments. Mr. Marlo Bartel, an established and well-known ceramist from Laguna Beach, hand glazed and fired each individual tiles from a trace-transferred life-size one-to-one drawing of the plans and elevations of each part of the pool. The base tiles are standard re-glazed 4.25 by 4.25 inch tiles.
The fountain's "fish" were constructed and fired as a larger integral part; they function as a recirculation element
